SEC Closes Investigation Into Ondo Finance Without Charges
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has ended its two-year probe into Ondo Finance, a DeFi platform specializing in tokenized real-world assets. The investigation, initiated under the Biden administration, concluded without enforcement actions—marking another win for the crypto industry under the Trump administration's pro-innovation stance.
Ondo Finance confirmed receiving formal closure notice in late November. The SEC had scrutinized whether its tokenized products and native ONDO token violated securities laws. "Ondo’s leadership in tokenization made us a focus, but not a justified target," the platform stated, referencing the SEC's controversial "regulation by enforcement" approach during the probe.
This decision follows similar case dismissals involving Gemini, Kraken, and Ripple this year. The outcome signals growing regulatory clarity for tokenization—a sector gaining traction among institutional investors.
